RC4.3 for FSX installation question

Featured Replies

I have RC verson 4.3 installed on my PC and it is working perfectly for FS2004. I just installed FSX on the same PC and want to use RC4.3 for FSX. I have read the published Notice About RC 4.3 but have a question about the correct procedure for installation. First I made a copy of the rcv4 folder and named it rcv4x and placed it back in the program files as instructed. Now the question. What do you mean by unzip the new rcv4.exe into the rcv4x directory? Does this mean to run the exe (double click it) and then install it into rcv4x and then overwrite when prompted? Thanks, Al

when you run the 4.3 install program, choose the fs9 and fsx option.you only unzip the install program zip file once, to a temp directory. run the .exe once, and choose the right option. you're done.jd

But JD, I already have the RC4.3 installed for FS9 which I have used for some time now. I just installed FSX and I now want to use RC for FSX. Should I uninstall what I have and start over and select installation for both at the same time?If so, then what is the the purpose of the published Notice about RC 4.3 which says something different to do?Thanks, Al

OK. Thanks. but one more question please. After running the installer, in the Install Location (before you get to just selecting the FSX only option), it says C:|Program files|rcv4, should I change this to rcv4x or will the installer automatically do this for me? Al

when i see the fsx only option, the install directory will be rcv4x. i imagine if you change it in the install, it would still go to rcv4xi've never tried it though, so i don't know.jd

Very interesting JD. Just thought you would like to know what happened.I changed the install directory to rcv4x, proceeded and when the info came up to let me know everything before it started, the install directory said rcv4x however when I clicked install I saw that it changed rcv4xx (2 x's). So I canceled the install and went back and left it at rcv4 and then when I proceeded it installed into rcv4x My previous Key seemed to work fine. Thanks, Al
