Question about Repaint Copyright/Modification

Hello all,I just had a quick question about modifying an existing repaint. There is an existing repaint available for download that I would like to modify to create a "hybrid" livery. The aircraft I want to paint changed airline owners and had an interim paint scheme with the colors of one airline and the logos of another. However, the file I would like to edit contains an invalid email address, so I no longer have a way to contact the original author to ask permission to use his work as a "base" line for my repaint.I could probably just upload my finished texture and no one would know, but I'm hoping to do the "right thing" in this case. Is there a work around for this dilemma, me using an original author's work to edit/modify/reupload, without a way of contacting him anymore? Thanks!

Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

All I can really all i can offer is an opinion Your choices are to either do the complete repaint yourself , or modify the original and give credit tothe original painter. If the guy sees what you have done and does'nt like it I suppose you could always ask Avsim to pull the file out of the library.Again I must stress this is only my opinion .What are the chances of finding another version of the repaint in question where you could contact the original painter?Let me guess slim and noneMark
