Black/Missing Glass...

Recommended Posts

I would like to ask for recommendations on how to solve the 'black/missing' glass problems with aircraft downloads to FSX. I initially noticed the problem on one particular aircraft about one week ago but it now has reappeared on a few more subsequent downloads.I am very new to fltsims and I have FSX SP1 on Windows XP Home. If I understand correctly, the problem occurs on certain FS9/FS2004 aircraft that have been 'modified' for installation on FSX. At first, I thought that the problem was related to the respective aircraft files, but now I see that the problem is identical on each of the affected aircraft. That is to say that the canopies are missing altogether yet the forward windscreens and portions of the side glass appear solid black. This makes me think that there is a common fault somewhere in FSX. Is this indeed the case?I've also been told that the alpha value of the 'glass files' needs to be changed in order to fix the problem, yet I can't seem to be able to locate the 'glass file' on any of the affected aircraft. Others have commented that the problem could be with the model itself. If this is the case, would a fix still be possible?I've downloaded and installed 'DXTBmp' and 'Gimp' in order to attempt a file repair but I haven't a clue on how or what files to modify. Could anyone be able to explain to me what I need to do to sort this thing out? Any comment or suggestions would be most sincerely appreciated! Many thanks...
