747 Fuel Tanks Pss And Posky

Featured Replies

Since Project Opensky does not allow any queries which could be related to PSS software, I would like to ask the question in this forum. I am just looking for some confirmation and reference to other sources of information. Hopefully somebody is willing to point me out further:I am a bit confused now after reading some posts regarding the number and settings of fuel tanks for Posky 747 planes and PSS. I have found posts regarding this issues in both forums from Posky and Avsim. Could somebody lighten me up a bit regarding the following?1. If I am right PSS 747 is configured with 3 fuel tanks and Posky v3 with 5 fuel tanks, right?2. I have merged the PSS panel with Posky panel without many changes in the aircraft.cfg files. I use the PSS panel with posky files and models. (simple link to the panel in the panel.cfg file)3. I have never noticed anything wrong I believe, I load the fueltanks in the posky utility or the fuel screen in FS2002.4. During the flight the fuel is decreasing and I have a

Thanks for your reply! Would this be allowed in the aircraft.cfg without all kinds of fuel calculation errors? For instance can I still do a flight from Amsterdam to Hong Kong without any shortage of fuel? :-)Snapshot from Posky aircraft.cfg (combined numbers)//Posky Fuel indicators//(fuel)//Center1 =0.000,0.0,-4.0,17153,3.0 //Longitudinal (feet)//Center2 =-193.5,0.0,6.0,3298,3.0 //Longitudinal (feet)//LeftMain =-5.0,-35.0,-4.0,18299,3.0 //Longitudinal (feet)//LeftAux =-11.5,-52.0,-3.0,5761,3.0 //Longitudinal (feet)//RightMain =-5.0,35.0,-4.0,18299,3.0 //Longitudinal (feet)//RightAux =-11.5,52.0,-3.0,5761,3.0 //Longitudinal (feet)//fuel_type = 2 //Fuel type: 1 = Avgas, 2 = JetA//number_of_tank_selectors = 1 //PSS Fuel indicators indicates max capacity(fuel)Center1=0.000000,0.000000,-4.000000,20451.000000,3.000000LeftMain=-5.000000,-35.000000,0.000000,24060.000000,3.000000RightMain=-5.000000,35.000000,0.000000,24060.000000,3.000000fuel_type=2.000000number_of_tank_selector.1 31

Hi Ferry, yes, the positions of the main fuel tanks are identical in the POSKY and PSS .cfg, so you'll have no problem with aircraft behaviour. The total amount of fuel also seems identical, so you can still fly the maximum distance - fuel flow etc. is not affected by the tanks, this section only tells FS how much fuel there is and where it is. Fuel burn and other preformance-related stuff is contained within the engine parameters etc. I don't know which airfile you're using, but I believe the POSKY one is quite accurate, so you shouldn't have a problem.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
