May 6, 200323 yr Can you trim a helicopter for pitch?I ask this because if I takeoff and let go of the stick my helicopter will pitch nose up and start flying backwards very fast. Also, to cruise, I have to keep quite a bit of forward pressure on the stick. Is this normal? kinda tough when travelling a fair distance. Thanks, Adam :-rotor
May 7, 200323 yr Yes that is normal for a helicopter. Never let go of the collective, always balance with the cyclic and the torsion bars. You have to always FLY a helicopter! Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
May 7, 200323 yr "Never let go of the collective..."I believe this is why the pilot sits in the right seat with the collective in his left hand. The collective is the only control that will stay put for a few seconds in order to free up a hand for switching radios.
