TrafficRadarXML.dll

Has anyone had any success loading/running Arne's TrafficRadarXML.dll in FSX?I'd sure like to be able to use it with FSX XML gauge scripts instead of the rather lame "TCAS" provided by the default GPS system.

BillI am running the default Tower radar in my FSX planes that are in the gauge folder. I did have to add some XML code to the radarscreen.xml that is in the radar.cab. I have both parts in the plane panel so I can select many of the features when looking at the traffic in my visual zone.default B737-800gauge35=Beech_Baron!Clock, 89, 687, 80, 30gauge36=radar!radarscreen, 760,565,179,179gauge37=radar!radar_settings, 820,100, 80,210I can over clutter the radar with all the routes, waypoints, navaids both gnd and airborne traffic if I zoom way out . The radar keypad is up on the center colum of the windscreen. I have many choices of what can be activated with the keypad but usually fly with AI traffic set at 10 NM's. You already know it won't display in VC mode.fsscr011k.jpg

Thanks for the reply, Jim. I already know how to add the default FSX Traffic to any XML gauge. I included that feature in the G300 I scripted for ABACUS's FSX C162 Sky Catcher, which while better than none at all, is still far short of what I was able to add in the FS9 version of the G300 system using Arne's .dll...If you add the XML directly to whatever XML gauge script, either method will work quite well in both 2d and VC modes... :( The major shortcoming of the FSX "default" is that there's no distinction made for real TCAS features, such as "Above" or "Below", only "Both"... nor is there any provision for implementing traffic alerts: color changed to yellow for threats, and red for immediate danger, and so forth. In addition, there's no provision for RA mode: Resolution Advisories...I was rather hoping that someone had already reworked the C++ source code that Arne graciously provided in his download so that it would work with FSX.This is how traffic looks in FS9 using Arne's module. Were I to move my a/c close to any of the "targets," it would turn yellow, then red as I moved closer... ;)cj1plus000007.jpg

I had the same problem when upgrading my Saab 35 from FS9 to FSX. The Ericsson PS-011/A radar and IP-1310/ALR-87 RWR that I emulate have functions that were simply not possible using XML in FSX. After struggling with this for months I decided to go for a SimConnect solution instead, making the radar a separate application. This also solves some problems with radar refresh rates depending on the sim frame rate etc. The SimConnect solution for my aircraft is being developed by a third party though, and is still in development. So I have no solution to the problem in this topic at this time, sorry.Arne has not been answering my emails lately, has anyone been succesful in contacting him? I will be very sad if he has retired from flight sim development completely. :(
