Vista 64 Install problems

Featured Replies

I've recently built a new computer with Vista Basic 64bit as the OS.I've reinstalled FS2004 located on the F drive, set compatibility to windows XP Service pack2 and run as administrator on the short cut properties. When I try to run it I get the following error message box pop up "Access is denied", with the additional information "Error:CreateFile(C:\Users\STEVEC~1\AppData\Local\Temp\~e5d141.t...)This happens with both vanilla and 9.1 patched versions. I've also tried it with UAC off.Anyone had a similar experience or found a work around? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Where did you try to install FS9. It either needs to be a stand alone program under the x86 program files or under some other section such as Microsoft Games. It has been suggested that it be installed under the X86 program files on its own.

Thanks Bill, I'll give it a try to see if I can get things working.I was hoping to use the larger space available on another drive, rather than my limited C drive (where x86 Program files resides) - but at the moment I'll give anything a try! Thanks, Steve

I just reinstalled to the x86 Program file folder on the C drive and exactly the same message comes up!

I'm not sure what to tell you then. There's a guy named Mike T that also uses Vista 64. You might try to contact him and see if he can help. I've thought about doing what you have done. Let me know how it works out. I've had some bad experiences with Vista myself. I'm hoping Windows 7 is an improvement. Good luck.
