Does Simconnect limit AI & MP display range?

For those of you who remember FSNAV, one of the cool features was that in multiplayer you could see yourself and any other player anywhere in the world. Have a friend who's working on a similar program but running into issues and I think it might be simconnect but I'm really not into programming for FSX. I notice that both AI & MP aircraft will disappear from the FSX view at 10NM. I have seen some TCAS gauges etc that show AI at considerably further distances so I must assume it can be done, but with multiplayer a/c?Anyone familiar with that area of Simconnect that can point me in the right direction. My friend says he has both AI & MP set for 200nm according to the docs but even though the AI display fine, the MP still drop off at 10nm.I use FSHost to connect for MP.Thanx,Vic

It is my understanding that there is a maximum range ( Radius ), that Simconnect is limited to, in getting information on aircraft objects ... so yes, typically, you have a range limit, and cannot see EVERYONE that might be flying, if they are many 1000's of miles away from you. This was not the case with FS2004 ( Direct Play ).However, a common solution is for players to install some addon software ( typically FSUIPC based), that gets THEIR position, and sends it to a cental server, that then displays EVERYONE's position on a web based map ( Google or Microsoft map).Using this, you can be in say , the USA, and watch on the Map, someone land right down the centerline of a runway in Australia, on the Maps Satellite image.Geoff_D
