PC Crash Flying FS9

Featured Replies

This problem first started about a month ago, prior to this I have had no errors and was able to fly with FS9 maxed out giving and 30-40 fps. My mounts were usually quite complex LDS 763, F1 ATR, DA Fokker etc and, if flying offline, traffic at 100%Twice I have planned Gatwick to Cancun with the LDS 767, and on both occasions I have had a total pc crash with around 1-2 hours flying time left! The first was with around 120 miles out of CUN starting the descent from 380, the second stepclimbing to 380 over Florida.I know there can be many causes, such as scenery conflicts or system overheats, even imminent hard drive failures, God forbid. System overheat - don't think so, good airflow around the box with ample cooling. Often spend 5-6 hours on FS doing regional hops with the Fokker 70.Scenery conflicts - only add-ons for this part of the world are FlyMex and Islands of the West Indies, never been a problem before. I have also used scanafd to eliminate duplicates.Hard Drive - 15 mth old system?I have now completed a full clean reinstall of Vista, all updates and SP1 with latest NVidia drivers, ensured system was stable before installing FS9.Now, I have completed 3 circuits of a Meigs with the default Piper Cub and.....crash - system shutdown There simply must be a hardware fault on the horizon, RAMdef shows 500Mb used out of 2Gb before starting FS and 1100Mb in use during.I really need to get this sorted as 95% of my PC usage is for FS!If any PC guru could shed a light to this problem it would be appreciated, or is this the end to my FS days? Thanks in advanceStuartSystemASUSP5N-E SLIIntel dual Core2 [email protected] RAM2 x NVidia GEForce 7600 - not set up in dual configWindows Vista Home Premium

couple of things..First, the cub at meigs field..was that with default everything before you installed any add-ons?It's possible one of your memory sticks has gone bad, try memtest to test them. You mention you have 2 7600 cards yet not in dual, what exactly does that mean?

Was with the Cub on a default Meigs with a totally clean install, no addons at all. The 2 video cards have not been put into SLI mode due to the negative effect on FS9.I am "hoping" that it is some simple hardware breakdown with an easy fix such as RAM, although I hadn't expected any failures so quickly, the system is only 18 months old.Is memtest easy to find? Searching now.
