DC-3 rain effects

Featured Replies

I only have 1 question, I don't see rain effects in VC even when it's pouring. Is there a solution for this problem?I did use the search but no answer.cheers,Adrian

Adrian, first, are you using FS9 or FSX ? FSX doesn't feature VC rain effects anymore... Second, there is VC rain effect in our Dakota but only with the latest models. Try f.i. the BBMF C-47. Be sure of what you let yourself into though... The old Dak is known to leak like a strainer. Be prepared for your radios or other vital instruments to stop working. Look underneath your seat, if you're lucky you'll find a full range of rainclothing including southwester. :( Good luck !Cheers,Jan

Now that is the answer I needed, it works in BBMF thanks JanI'm using FS9 and flown about 40 hours with the DC-3 cargo.I've done a fast repaint, new lights on it and a installed a modern panel and now my only question is can I get the VC rain affects in the DC-3 Cargo with altering a few lines in the config?I've done a quick search in some configs but I don't know where to look for :( p.s. I have my zuidwester always ready, I live near the coast :( cheers,Adrian

Afraid the VC rain effect is baked into the model, Adrian... You'll have to pick a later model for your repaint. You can stow away a nice load of cargo in those para cabins as well. Just put the seats up... :(Btw, i was not kidding with that remark about the DC-3 cockpit leaking like a strainer... I heard gruesome stories about that from a pilot who started his career as a co-pilot on a cargo Dak. They really *had* to wear rain clothing and sometimes the radios *did* stop working because of water damage...Ah, zuidwester.... :( Kom je ook uit Holland ?....Groeten,Jan

Hehe ok thanks Jan, gonna do a repaint and see how it goes. And a great remark, those were the days huh when luxory was not yet invented for the poor pilots :( The reason I asked because I bought an add-on called Air Hauler and a few days later I bought the DC-3, it's a great combo and brought me back to flight simulator after at least a year break from FS.I've seen some bad weather and for total immersion I missed the raindrops in VC mode, not a biggie but a nice feature. En ja ik kom inderdaad uit het mooie Nederland :( Groetjes,Adrian
