May 7, 200917 yr Hi Guys Apologies for the essay butI would be extremely grateful of any ideas on the following. Having simmed for a few years now, constantly upgrading hardware to accommodate the increasing complexity and realism of add-on scenery and aircraft etc, I still find that frame rate hit is still a problem in FSX. Even though I do 'totally max out' FS9 with excellent performance and no degradation in frame rates, FSX, even with all of the patches and fixes still suffers stuttering frame rates or hardware slow down even with settings set to normal. Sometimes even freezing totally, requiring a re-boot to free the system up. As a consequence of this frustration, I no longer use FSX. Maybe it's my rig, or could the problem be inadequate cooling? May 7, 200917 yr Welcome, I see this is your first post. For starters, 1) you are running SLI, this is known to be tricky to pull off effectively in FS; likely you can brute-force good performance out of a SLI setup with FS9 with your hardware, but you cannot get away with this with FSX as easily2) I do not know your RAID setup on the Veloci's. Not all RAID is the same. If it's motherboard RAID, I'd get rid of that. Both of those issues are enough to cause the stutter-time. That is all it takes. And I haven't even started mentioning things like driver setup, OS config, disk maintenance utils, etc. They need not be mentioned at all, if #1 and #2 are not right, you're going to suffer in the performance department. I second that. W/O SLI and MB RAID you would be much better off. You have good components. A fast overclockable cpu, fast DDR3 RAM, Vraptors, and a strong video card. You should have decent results with that setup.-jk
