May 28, 200917 yr Im using Windows 7 RC and am very happy with it. The only problem I am experiencing is when I try to open an aircraft .cfg file to add a new repint for a plane. When I try to save it, It says I don't have admin rights and so I save it to My Downloads directory. However, it is save as "aircraft.CFG, but it is a text file and is unusable . Ive tried everything I can think of, but can not get it to save it in a .cfg format. Anyone had this issue? It worked fine with the beta of Win7 and Vista 64 before that.Rob
May 28, 200917 yr Have you tried it? The aircraft.cfg file IS a text file with a .cfg extension. Try it and it should work (backup original first of course).
May 28, 200917 yr If you installed under "Program Files", Vista/Win7 put special protections on that directory tree (to save you from yourself apparently :-> ) - which is why most folks suggest installing to somewhere else (like C:\FSX or better D:\FSX if its a physically seperate drive from C:).One way to workaround this would be to launch Notepad.exe using the "as adminstrator" option (available on the right click menu of a shortcut), or, if you are working from inside a DOS box, launch the DOS box "as administrator", and then when you launch notepad.exe from the DOS box it will also be running that way.Another option is to change the security settings on the FSX directory to allow Full Control to the Administrator group (or the Users group).Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
