Three panel monitor

Featured Replies

Would like to broaden my view using a three panel monitor. What would be involved with FSX to show different views (ahead and 45 degrees, for instance)?

----------------I can't speak directly for FSX other than to say I have seen it being run nicely with triple synchronized monitors- views L/R FWD & Center. Be aware that there is a frame rate penalty- FSX will require a skookum computer. You are on the right track when you refer to "broadening your view". I've been flying Triple Views/triple mons with FS9 for six years and I rate this as #1 add on. You will be amazed at how your flying skills improve when your field of view becomes 145

After your comments regarding narrow field of view and tunnel vision, think i might get tripleheadToGo myself. One thing i do know about going multimonitor is that, get ready to turn down sliders a bit, get a faster system, or settle for a hit on frame rates. Cause triple monitor means your cpu driving triple the numer of pixels you were before.Issue of multimonitors has been mentioned on this site a lot, and many seem to support tripleHeadToGo as way forward, rather than getting a second video card to drive a third monitor, seems frame rate hit is less if using jsut one card and tripleHead.I have tried to go dual monitor, using other screen for instruments etc, but the frames half as soon as i drop undocked e.g. GPS on second screen. Conclusion, if you for multimonitor, try to increase your systems speed or settle for drop in frame rates.

----------------------The real deciding factor for TH2GO is if you wish to fly in virtual mode. If you prefer 2D panels, a second video card is the way.Be aware that TH2GO does not display Views L/R Fwd- only View Fwd stretched over 3 monitors- with a Field of View of 45

Thanks for the expert info, very usefull inofrmation about the Fps still being smooth at low figures.I am still not certain, but the only reason i favour triplehead right now is cause, i dont have to setup window view sizes or save flight with sizes for each aircraft. With tripleHead i can just zoom out and get 100 degrees field of view. But with 2D i hear some people save flights with windows set of each aircraft FWD L\R views, then load that flight first, when using the aircraft, i dont like the extra work load of going with 2D option.with TripleHead i prefer to just get in VC and Zoom out to get 100 degrees, up from my current as you said 45 degrees. Also i am definatly VC flyer, i never use 2D.

-----------------------Yes- each of my planes is setup with views & popups opened/sized/arranged as you prefer, then that flight is saved for next time. Only takes a moment to open a Saved Flight then do a Go To if desired for next FS session. For some planes I have up to a dozen Saved Flights for different airports/situations.I used to be a "Heavy" enthusiast but as I experimented more with multi mons, I've become a mostly low/slow flier. Even with FS9 the scenery detail is remarkable when your resolution is 3072 x 768 ! Or set visib to 1/2 mile, then kill an engine after T/O, keep the bird flying, execute a circuit and set up for an instrument approach. Nothing but white across all 3 mons sure gets the adrenalin flowing!VC never appealed to me- don't like zooming in out & panning to read gauges. Nice to have everything there ready for instant use. I'm sure TRACK/IR works well but I wonder if I'd get vertigo? If time and money was no object- (at 77 it is!) I would have five monitors in an arc & five views covering about 225
