May 30, 200917 yr Hi all - reloaded Fly!2 on my XP machine and wanted to mess with the render.ini settings...it's been a couple of years but I thought previously i used Fly!2Tweaker to modify my render.ini but the only version i can find is in French (which I don't speak). While i'm not sure Fly!2 can take advantage of SLi, i'm wondering if anyone has any guidance as to how to full up the memory allocations in the render.ini? Here's my machine details;WinXP ProIntel Core2Duo 2.42Gb RAM(2) EVGA Nvidia 8800 GTS 640s in SLiany help would be greatThanks.mogwai

Not sure about Fly!Tweaker, but I use the program MemCalc to figure out best render.ini settings. Unfortunately, I think its only available in the AVSIM library. But it works well for my old nVidia TI4200. And am fairly sure Fly! or Fly! II does not directly suppoert the SLi feature itself. ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster
June 1, 200917 yr Thanks Ken!I've got a version of Memcalc but am unsure on exactly how to use it.I've been flying blind with editing the render.ini file and just didn't find any instructions in the memcalc version that I have. Any guidance on this? I recall some of the slots but am not sure if I should just fill up all the largest memory slots or how to really proceed. Just looking for more detail on how the render.ini works. No biggie on the Sli issue. I've found the sim just works so smoothly on my machine...i can't quite place my finger on it, but something about the interior, the way you can interact with the panels, the movement of the plane just "feels" much smoother than FSX...not sure why that is though, but it's an old familiar feeling.Anyway - heres' to hoping the avsim library is back up soon :)mog

Little problem with my one HDD...If you recall - 32-bit is the standard lines in the render.ini file - 16-bit is the "565-xx" lines. The way I do this is - place MemCalc program in the main Fly!II folder. since each card is 640mb memory, you can try plugging in values until you reach the nearly the 640mb limit. The64, 128 and 256 are most likely used - the 1024 is mainly for the aircraft textures itself (if I recall correctly). Check the FAQ section or do a search on render.ini within the archive to help verify above. Someone worked out a "how to figure it" for each texture slot - but heavens - it has been ages since anyone has asked about the render.ini settings! I have a meager 128mb card - the following settingsis what has given me the best performance so far:maxTextures32=64maxTextures32_565=64maxTextures64=200maxTextures64_565=16maxTextures128=72maxTextures128_565=350maxTextures256=20maxTextures256_565=220maxTextures512=8maxTextures512_565=10maxTextures1024=2mipMapFlag=896[NonAGP]maxTextures256_565=16[AGP]maxTextures256_565=32So see if that helps jog the memory core a little... :( Only time I have problems is when I get some of the scenery conversions using FSIMP (such as a couple of the old SimFlyer sceneries). Hope this helps a little more!Cheers, ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster
