Running FS9 and FSX under Windows 7

Featured Replies

I have earlier used Win XP and have no experience of Vista. Now I have built a new system and installed Windows 7 RC.When setting up things what should I think about? For example I find no NVIDIA controlpanel to set up the videocard in Win 7. So I have not been able to set it up as in Win XP.After installing FS9 and the 9.1 update I only got some 40 fps in the default KSEA flight. Isn't that low for this systemAMD X2 6000+4 Gb RAM PC6400NVIDIA 8800GT 512M DDR3

First thing I recommend to do it's uninstall the current video driver and browse the nvidia site to find the latest driver to your video card. I have ATI card but I think nvidia has also done some drivers to Win7.Now, just because you have an hig-end computer that doesn't mean you'll get 100FPS. There are several things that influence the fps in games. For example, make sure you have your hard drive defragmented and as clean as possible.I also think you should make some tweaks in your fs. Browse the internet and you'll find a lot of topics about that, just try several and use the best options for you and your system.

The default Win 7 video driver has been replaced with the latest NVIDIA drivers. You call my system high end? I don't get 100 fps neither did I expect it. I wan't stutter and blurries free FS and can I get that I don't bother much about the fps as I think it's no good meter for performence. I have Ultimate defrag so the drive will be defragmented and chosen files be placed on the outer tracks.

I installed Win-7 on a separate HD,And FSX seems to run a little faster,But the thing I noticed, was the lack of studders, and increased overall smoothness. My test so far is with the Flight1 super 80,and the CS757. I also run the new Ultimate Traffic II,with sliders set at 75% for airline and GA. Overall I am happy with win7.
