June 1, 200917 yr I just tried installing AS6.5 (setup.exe 2-27-07) on Vista Home Premium PC.I am Administrartor.I just double clicked setup.exe to install AS65.Other programs have installed ok eg FS9 and scenery.During install it said installing Net framework 1.1Said it was ok.It continued install then I got an ERROR 1603, Error installing NetframeworkInstallation stopped.I checked my installed programsThere was a net framework 1.1 entry .. probably a bad install! Also there was net framework 3.5 SP1 .. that came with the system.Because of the error I uninstalled net framework 1.1 (no error doing it).Questions:If I already had net framework 3.5 why was AS6.5 installing net framework 1.1?Is my net framework 3.5 good enough? How can I install AS6.5? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
June 2, 200917 yr Hi,.NET versions are not cumulative so yes, .NET1.1 needs to be installed.Right mouse click on the AS installer and Run......As Administrator. Thanks,
June 2, 200917 yr Author Ok,Thanks for the info.I will try to install AS6.5 again on this Vista PC. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
June 2, 200917 yr Author Jim,I ran AS6.5 setup again. It downloaded and installed .net1.1 again. All ok .. looked like it installed ok.Then Install shield Wizard started .. preparing to install AS6.5 setup.Install Shield Error 1603 / MS .net framework ... again!I checked, and .net1.1 was in my list of installed programs. So, assuming it really installed ok.I ran AS6.5 setup again. No problem, it installed.I do not understand why the Install Shield did the error 1603.I assume all is well with the .net1.1 install and the AS6.5 install because AS6.5 started ok. Is this true? If I actuall had a bad .net1.1 install would AS6.5 just fail to start or give an error message or what? Just so I know what to look for. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
June 2, 200917 yr Hi,Yes, if .NET wasn't installed properly, there would be an error message generated when you ran AS.Why did that happen the first time? Not sure, but only Microsoft would know! Thanks,
