Poor aircraft visuals

Featured Replies

I just installed the MD-11 from an Aerosoft CD on my computer and the external view of the PMDG MD-11 is extremely blurry except for the engines and the tail section. My computer spec's are as follows: WinXP with SP-3 installed, Q6600 with a mild overclock to 2.67ghz, 4 gig of DDR3-1800 ram, 8800 GT nvidia graphics card, 250gig hitachi H.D. I'm getting between 18-28fps with weather in major airports but cannot understand why the aircraft in the 'external' view is extremely blurry. Everything else is almost crystal clear. Is this normal??Regards, jack

Many of the MD11 bitmaps are mip mapped, meaning that they will become lower resolution as you view them from farther distances. They will also become lower resolution of set your global texture slider to anything but far right. Some solutions for you:1) If the bitmaps always appear blurry even when viewed close, you need to set your global texture slider to full right.2) If the bitmaps appear blurry when the aircraft is viewed at an angle, increase your level of anistrophic filtering in your video card's control panel.

Thanks Vin. That solved the problem. This is a great aircraft. Just getting familiar with it over that last day or so. Fantastic job & a well done to the PMDG team.Regards, jack

Just to add a word to Vin's point about aniso filtering: the new 186.03 drivers from Nvidia - to my eyes - have improved the anisotropic filtering quite nicely (I use the 16x setting with a GTX285). On the other hand this is one of the changes documented in the release notes, so maybe I'm just imagining it.Tim
