June 8, 200916 yr Jim,I have noticed lately that there is a lack of mid-level winds in the KDFW area. The departure winds are ok, but as I continue my climb the wind disappear until I get into the flight levels. I am using FSX, ASX, registered FSUIPC, and Vista. Hopefully it is something in my setup.Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
June 9, 200916 yr Hi Bill,I just tried and everything was OK. Was ASX reporting winds at those levels? Thanks,
June 18, 200916 yr Author Hi Bill,I just tried and everything was OK. Was ASX reporting winds at those levels? Thanks, My apologies for taking so long to get back. ASX appears to be reporting the winds correctly per the "Report" tab. Once the aircraft gets about 125/150 miles from KDFW the winds aloft winds start to work correctly. When I start FSX (ASX throught Simconnect) with ASX off, the default start up is with clear skies, std temp/pressure, and no winds. This shows up in the ATIS and the FSX weather page. When I start ASX it starts the weather in FSX. On this flight the surface winds were 127@10, the temperature was 30C, altimeter was 29.87. FSX ATIs reporting 094@08, temperature 25, altimeter 2988. It appears that FSX is averaging the ATIS and ASX. ASX is showing 170@15, temp 37. altimeter 29.88. I am running registered FSUIPC 4.50. I guess the real question is where is the ATIS weather coming from? That appears to be the problem. I probably don't have something set correctly.Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
June 18, 200916 yr Hi Bill,Not a problem. Run ASX before starting FS and see if that changes anything. Thanks,
June 24, 200916 yr Author Jim, Hi Bill,Not a problem. Run ASX before starting FS and see if that changes anything. Thanks,I have tried this and still no luck. The winds aloft are showing up in ASX and once the winds aloft start appearing, the winds in MSFS are fairly close to those being reported by ASX. My normal operating procedure in to start ASX first. Then I start FSBuild for my flight plan which includes the ASX briefing. Once that is complete I start FSX followed by Squawkbox and then FTG-Acars. ASX and Squawkbox run through Simconnect. I will track my flight using ASX a lot of times, but this does not appear to affect the weather. The winds seems to disappear like they would when using VATSIM winds aloft (none). The disappearance of the winds is only in the vicinity of the departure and arrival airports. I have tried flying with only FSX and ASX connected and does not seem to matter. Is it possible that I do not have my FSUIPC set up correctly or a setting in ASX incorrectly installed?Bill I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
