June 9, 200916 yr It seems lately everytime I run FSX I eventually get strange scenery effects like poles in the sky, huge gray areas, etc. When I refresh the scenery everything is OK but eventually the weird effects return. Sometimes a little window opens up breifly which has the term "VPU" and my hard drive spins like crazy!! I checked the event viewer and sometimes there is an error called ATI2MTAG. The error suggests I should update my drivers. I am using an ATI Radeon X1900GT card with version 8.4 drivers. I use XP SP3. I cleaned out the inside of my PC and made sure all my fans were working. I also made sure all cards were secure and connections were OK. I also use FS9 with no problems at all!! I have been using FSX intermittently for several years with only minor glitches, but over the last couple of months running FSX has been almost impossible! If anyone has had similar experiences I would appreciate knowing what you did to fix it. Thanks for any ideas!Airbus Al Kaupa Digital Storm purchased 8/17/2011; Win7x64: Asus P8P67 Deluxe; Intel i7 2600K@3,9 GHZ; nVidia GTX 560Ti; 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Dominator; Power Corsair HX 750W; Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD; 300GB WD VelociRaptor; 1TB Seagate.

But I did a Google search for "ati2mtag error fix" and came up with several possible solutions. One indicates you might be overclocking your card too much.Best regards,Jim

I am also NOT overclocking my card, maybe something else is going on. Thanks for your help!AirbusNick's Tune Up guide has a discussion on how to implement the /3GB switch for XP systems: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041.Also, I hope you followed my earlier suggestion of the Google search for "ati2mtag error fix". It has more suggestions for fixing this non-FSX problem.Best regards, Jim Young
