Graphic Problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have some trouble with FSX. I have black square instead of wave or smoke. Here is an exemple. Sans%20titre.gif My System is : Windows XP ATI HD4850 512mb Intel E4500 2,20GHz 2Gb RAM I have the latest driver for my graphic card, and I play other games i don't have any problem with everything like "smoke". So if someone could help me :( Thx

Sorry, I haven't run an ATI GPU in years but I swear, that looks like GPU driver problem. Does your ATI software use game profiling where you can change GPU settings specifically for FSX? Otherwise, I would look around for a known ATI driver that works best with FSX.

You can simply try renaming the FSX.cfg to FSX.old, restart the sim and the FSX.cfg will rebuild itself. This could fix any corrupted settings (it will also bring your FSX settings back to the default or what the Microsoft team thought were the best settings based on your system specs). FSX is also CPU intensive and uses a lot of memory. It requires a lot of tweaking with a system such as yours. I would lower some scenery sliders (for instance you don't need the highest setting for water to enjoy FSX) and especially lower the special effects detail slider to medium. This one controls details like smoke.Best regards,Jim Young
