June 14, 200916 yr Now that the MD-11 is out on CD-ROM for FS9, I am ready to get it. I am wondering however if I will have any technical issues because my DELL XPS is quite dated by now with a lot of older FS software on board. The PC is about 4.5 years old and it runs FS2004 with sim equipment only. I have the PMDG 737NG and 747-400 pax versions on it and I have over 20 hardware devices connected to it (including a mass of GoFlight stuff and TH2G) that all work generally flawlessly. FS runs very smoothly and without any significant visual issues. Heat is not an issue. I think my FSUIPC is version 3.70. Overall, therefore, the rig is stable and reliable. If I load the PMDG MD-11 on it now, will all be well or might t trigger issues?Appreciate any advice/guidance, thanks.Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
June 14, 200916 yr You can never predict how anything will affect a computer.I will say though that I have had problem with PMDG aircraft in the past. For example my top menu bar would disappear and then FS would crash with the 744 in FS9. The customer service for PMDG leaves a bit to be desired in my opinion but this forum will probably help you through your issues. I would say you would probably be safe but there is always a chance something will go astray. Best Regards, Brendan Farmer KPAE www.fusionairways.com

I would say you would probably be safe but there is always a chance something will go astray.I guess I am wondering whether it would be OK to instal the MD-11 given that in the past it was necessary to instal the 737NG and the 747-400 and the various updates or patches for the aircraft in a very specific order so as not to experience weird stuff. Or perhaps this is not an issue with the MD-11 in Fs2004 (under Windows XP Home Edition) ?Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
June 15, 200916 yr Commercial Member If you can run the FS9 747-400 fine then you shouldn't have problems running the MD-11, at least performance wise. You may see out of memory errors on a 32 bit OS though, there's absolutely nothing we can do about that. Brendan, you're likely seeing the result of something like that - we can't do anything about the corruption problems, it's the FS engine and Windows that cause it, not us.
