edit aircraft.cfg fuel values?

Sorry if this topic's been addressed, but a forum search did not turn up any answers. Is there any way in FS9 and/or FSX to force an aircraft to load with a specific fuel load, (not including addons with fuel/cargo planners)? I have a few a/cthat load with 100% fuel in all tanks, which is not very realistic. The [fuel] section of the aircraft.cfg file controls the maximum capacity of the tanks; I'm wondering if there's a variable or string somewhere that can be changed so the a/c loads with a predetermined amount in each tank. Thanks in advance.

Hello,Can help:

Weight and balancesI add or change payload/cargo settings, for default to max weight. I also prefer to have multiple points for the aircraft cargo and passenger weights because the plane handles much more realistically when decent values are used. You use 170 lbs (these values are in pounds) for the

Not sure if you can get individual aircraft to load with predetermined fuel values every time but it very easy to adjust the fuel load once you are in Fly Now mode using the menu bar at the top of the screen (windowed mode). Select the Aircraft label and you will see a Fuel and Payload dialogue where you can adjust various settings.I believe it is also possible to set up a flight with the fuel amounts adjusted and save that flight, making it the default flight. Many settings from the default flight are passed on to whatever aircraft you then select to fly - and I feel fairly certain that the fuel values are passed on also.Of course what is acceptable for one type of aircraft may well not be what you want for another so this method has obvious limitations.Hope that is of some help.

Thanks for the replies, belga1 and Opa. I guess setting up a default flight with a specific aircraft having a specific fuel load would work; then I'd just have to load that flight at startup and then change any other variables.

Another thing you can try - is setting up a flight with a specific aircraft you prefer and which you want to control the fuel level. Set the fuel as you wish and just save that flight.Do that with as many aircraft as you wish. You can then select any of those flights from the Select a Flight menu and the fuel settings will be as you had previously set them. Of course you will be at the airport etc. where you were when you saved the flight. If you wish to bypass all the setup screens, you can just double click on the FLT file you wish to use (normally saved in C:\Documents and Settings\You USER NAME\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files) and select Flight Simulator as the program to open it with.Just another idea.
