Hey guys! Long time no see!Yeah, I know, I've been AWOL for a while. To be honest I haven't played around with FS in quite a while. I just got fed up with the issues with performance on my machine and had been so busy with work and school (I started Drexel University's Online CS Masters program in March while continuing to work full time at Lockheed...)Anyhow, I bought a new Mac Pro machine at the end of March and have loaded up FSX on Windows 7 64 bit on the Boot Camp partition. It's still a pretty sparse basic install, but it works pretty nicely. I still need to tweak it to get the most out of the system:Core i7 2.93 ghz Xeon, 4 core, 8 threads (hyperthreading on)8 GB RAMRadeon 4870 512MB graphics card driving my 24" Dell displayRadeon 2600XT graphics card driving my 2 20" Dell displaysOnly problem I've had so far is when I try to undock a panel and move it to the side monitors,Windows 7 crashes. I'm just going to chalk that up right now to Windows 7 being Beta and potentially buggy drivers, plus the mixed video cards. Unfortunately the Mac Pro doesn't have a way to really drive 2 high end video cards, so I couldn't throw a second 4870 in it (well, I can, but it would involve some hacking that I don't really want to do right now on my rig...)I also picked up a copy of X-Plane 9 so I can fly that from within OS-X. I like it, but it's not quite as graphically rich as FSX - like when flying around Atlanta, yes, it shows buildings where there should be, but not the RIGHT buildings like FSX has... Also, KATL just has the runways and tarmac, no building! #####? Still, it'll be nice for when I want to fly without rebooting to Windows.Has anyone tried out that new Saitek gear? It seems they have a new switch panel, radio deck, AP panel, and instrument gauges coming out/out. I'm seriously considering getting those this coming winter for use in FSX. Hopefully the prices will come down a bit on them and any bugs will be ironed out by then.Anyhow, I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I miss chatting with you guys. Sorry I couldn't make the race this year, but hopefully I'll be able to next year. I hope you all have been doing well and have been getting in a lot of practice for next year's race. Also, very glad to see that they were able to ressurrect AVSim from the ashes. I saw the news on Slashdot and nearly cried. And BTW, CONGRATS!!!!! Good job winning this year guys!!!!
