wow.. no one was able to diagnose this?

You forgot to give us the most important info, WHAT OS ARE YOU RUNNING.I use vista64 and If it is Vista you use then i might have some news for you, MIGHT.On vista i have been having similar problem, i go to FSX menu, return, and screen goes funny, i never seen this problem in FSX till i started using PMDG.So i did a reinstal of vista and FSX and the problem was still there.I just did another vista and FSX reinstall and so far i cant see the problem, also i am using Vista as it came on the cd, i have not updated vista online , and automatic updates is turned off.I think the problem is caused by either PMDG and the files it addss to FSX, or vista updates that dont work well with FSX.I have just spent few days doing reinstall, and i have decided to be very carefull with all those vista updates, i mean make restore points before getting any vista update, and test FSX .Again so far i cant see the problem since i reinstalled vista and FSX, but early days yet.If you want to reinstall as well, i suggest you not get any vista updates and just use vista as it came on the disk.

Thanks I have Vista 64bit. Am not running PMDG. Was running a default aircraft in fact.

This is very good news, since you are running vista64 aswell , the problem must be from vista updates.I have decided to take my time and caution getting vista updates, or never to get any vista updates with auto update turned off. The PC is only for fsx, so as long as fsx is running fine, i dont need to update vista. And if you decide to update, i recommend adding 1 update at a time with restore points every step of the way.As for me, think i will adopt strategy of no updates or hardly ever.

Bad news? I run FSX SP2 with Vista 64 and I don't have this problem.
