Fsforce and steep turns

Featured Replies

I just purchased Fsforce and I am currently using it with the MS Sidewinder FF2 joystick. I am definitely enjoying this extra element of realism. I do however have one question. When I am performing steep turns (45 degrees or more) in a real Cessna 172 I definitely feel a huge amount of tension in the elevator which of course I alleviate by using trim. I noticed though that while performing steep turns in FSX, while flying the Baron with Fsforce, I do not get the intense tension in the elevator like I do in real life. Am I doing something wrong? Is Fsforce improperly configured or does it simply not simulate this effect? Thank you.

You're not doing anything wrong. The MS Sidewinder FF2 is probably one of the best FF joysticks out there (based on my testing), in terms of producing the strongest forces, but it will never come close to matching the control resistance you will feel in a real airplane in a steep turn. I also was a johnny come lately to FS Force. What a pleasant addition to the immersiveness of FSX. A great little program for those of you that still manage to find use for that FFB Stick. The Trim feature is very close to reality....even on the heavy iron.

Have you tried an aircraft with a better flight model than the default a/c? One of the RealAir Simulations planes for example? It may not be FSForce that is at fault but the flight model itself. You can always increase the forces applied by changing the profile, rather than just using the pre-defined settings. That might help as well.Cheers,Noel.

Oh I'm not expecting it to match the intense force that I feel in a real C172. What puzzles me is that I don't feel any resistance at all in the elevator while doing steep turns.

I just tried it with the Carenado C172 and had the same results unfortunately.
