Loads ok then stops working

Featured Replies

I'm using FSX on a fairly fast computer with a high speed cable connection and using version 8 I get everything to load ok, but then I start flying and it seems as though TP is not loading the scenery as I fly (around 100kts) as everything is just low res blurry. I even orbit the same location to see if things will load in, but no luck. I've searched the forums but haven't seen anything related to this issue. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks.

Have you locked FPS in FSX, and if the lock FPS is too high this will happen. Try lowering it.

Yeah, I have seen this behaviour as well. I can keep up lod 13 (zoom level 15) at cruise speed (300kts) and lod 15 (zoom level 17) at speeds below 200kts, with almost all of my planes (default, alphasim, ariane 737).To achieve this, i lock my frames at lowest acceptable (which is 18 IMO), set my multiplier to 1600, fiber fraction 0.33, and affinity mask to 12 (for smoothness, only for quadcores). If i get a solid 18 fps all the time with a particular plane and settings, everything works fantastic and looks great. But i also have planes (pmdg747, aerosoft f16) that do reach the 18 fps, but it looks like the tiles just don't get through!Even if i pause the game and check the loading status in the tileproxy, i can see tileproxy has already finished loading all the tiles, but ingameit still looks blurry, even after waiting quite some time while paused. The only thing i can think of is that as soon as you do not have 'enough overhead power left', the loading of tiles gets worse and worse the longer you play!I like to know if there is someway of forcing FSX to load the tiles. (probably raising the fiber time fraction)

That could be it. I usually have my fps unlocked. I'll give this a try tonight. Thanks for the advice!Rmk, you probably know this, but in the in game menu you can force it to refresh. This clears things up temporarily until I fly another 10 miles or so.
