July 10, 200916 yr EDIT---it seems that Dell has reinstated their offering on the Canadian site (11:21 am.) What I posted below this edit might not be what is happening. It also still might be...let the reader form their own conclusions. Thanks.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the course of spec'ing out my i7 system, I had been keeping an eye on the Dell branded, 730x H20 high-end systems. I have had good luck with this brand in the past, and was watching and keeping tabs on their different promotions over the recent months. Today, I have noticed (on their site at 10:30 a.m.) that they are only offering their H20 model in the U.S. and not on their Canadian site. Over the last two weeks, it was just the opposite, the the H20 being offered in Canada, but NOT in the U.S. I believe that they are offering 'equal opportunity' for this system build/spec to both U.S. and Canadian customers Why? Product ramp-down...Now...this is the interesting thing....on the Canadian site, they not only are not offering the TEC-cooling H20 model, but you ONLY can get the Aluminum color cabinet. Dell owns Alienware. There was talk a little over a year ago that they were (rumors only...) going to drop the Dell-branded XPS high end, and have only ALIENWARE products as their high-end gaming offerings.I think, that (hush-hush) this is now happening...in a very low-keyed, and quiet manner. From what I have been observing, is that they are now just offering what configurations they have...in what is on hand, or what has been contracted for. As soon as all the 730 XPS chassis are sold...they will make their announcement. So, why the public service message? If you do like Dell, own one, or wish to own one...I suggest you make your XPS 730x system decision sooner, than later. I think they are ramping down. It is a great system, and the chassis is killer, from all those that own one. They are also totally third-party upgradeable in the XPS 730x lineup. When things get outdated, you can add in the future, as not has been the case before.Again, just a head's up.
July 10, 200916 yr Author It looks like they took their H20 model off their Canadian site again. (13:00 hours) I guess that my original post stands....Forget the edit at the top as per 13:00 hours July 10/2009
