Briefing page creating snapshots using XG

Featured Replies

Hi - I am using a networked configuration while running ASA and XG and I would like the weather to appear as it has been reported along the way from one waypoint to the next. I know that ASA updates iteself but I thought I would have smoother transitions using the briefing/snapshot way as I have read in the ASA documentation.I have created a flightplan and imported it to the briefing page in ASA where after it is processed and I am asked if I would like to install Graphic Snapshot Textures based on my route. As I have only just installed XG I get a message saying that ASA could not find a Snapshot close to the weather conditions given and further another pop-up appears saying "ASX weather data has been updated" and "Do you wish to install Wx influenced textures now?"There is one nagging issue and that is that I have REx installed on the FSX computer and as I have seen XG offers a myriad of choices in Clouds, Sky, Water, Roads n Rail, Airports and finally Lights n Sound. I am afraid that my themes that were created with REx will be overwritten by ASA/XG.All I want is for ASA to render the weather using the snapshots created with XG and nothing else, the other textures such as water, wave animations, runways and taxiways are rendered by REx. Is there a workaround for this?**Edit** I forgot to ask how does it work? Are the textures installed in ASA or FSX?Thanks,Robert

Hi,Please generate about 20 Snapshots for ASA to use. Then run ASA as you have been doing.Run REX and load your theme and close REX. Then start FSX.The Snapshots are stored in FSX, but only one at a time are actually installed in the proper places in FSX.Thanks,

Hi Jim - Thanks for the reply, I have to do this everytime I use a snapshot right? It seems to work fine, I do not have violent swings in weather as I used to experience and transitions seem to be smoother now. As for the map page, would it be possible for you to program ASA/ASX to show other aircraft such as they are rendered in VATSPY and vRoute whether flying online or not? Just wondering.Robert

Hi,1. Yes.2. That is beyond anything we have ever done, program AI traffic Radar for the maps. Do this: write up an e-mail with this and send it to tell-us(AT)hifisim.comThanks,

Hi Jim - Will ASA store the snapshot even in a network situation? I have FSX installed on both computers. The one with ASA/XG also has photoshop and I use it to test repaints while the primary computer that I use for simming has FSX, REx, GEx etc... (server)I am sure that during installation of ASA I had to point to the FSX installation on the server so then you are saying that the snapshots are saved over the network onto the server. Just trying to wrap my head around this info.Robert

Hi,ASA will store the Snapshots in the FSX that you have ASA pointed to. So if ASA is pointed to the server FSX, that is where the Snapshots will be saved. Thanks!
