Separate control device assignments

Featured Replies

Hi all,I have been using a logitech dual shock gamepad to play this game for yonks (not ideal I know) but last night I realised that I could perhaps use my racing pedals in conjunction with the gamepad for the rudder and brake controls. In theory this seemed perfect, but now when I try to set it up in FSX it becomes a problem. The game seems to only let me assign one single controller at a time, so I can't use the gamepad for most of my controls and then use my pedals to control the rudder because it won't let me use both systems simultaneously. So is there any way that this can be made possible? Perhaps I am missing a trick in the game or maybe there is some 3rd party software to do the trick???Thanks for any help.

In the Settings | Controls Dialog | Control Axis tab, you can use the combo box at the top to select which input device you are currently assigning settings for, but all of the input devices should be active at the same time (the combo boxes on the other tabs behave the same way, letting you assign buttons on, or calibrate, each device).Tim

Thanks for reply, got both controllers working together. New problem though, I wish to map the accelerator pedal to rudder right and the brake pedal to rudder left. However in FSX when I go to assign new keys for the rudder it does not pick up the pedals when pressed and instead only picked them up in the axis menu (since they are axis and not buttons). This is a problem because in the axis menu there is only the option for a single rudder axis, not two (like left and right) which means I cannot assign the rudder to the separate pedals as I hoped I could. Is there any way around this or is it simply not going to be possible?

Not in FS. Which is a bit logical since left/right rudder pedals are always coupled in a real plane :-)But maybe you can solved that (ie. have you throttle/brake pedals act as one set of rudder pedals) in your controller setup. What I remember from most controllers with pedals I've seen, is that in the Windows setup there an option to "combine the throttle/brakes as one axis".Because most older race games cannot handle independant throttle/brake pedals.Hope this helps....Rob
