July 28, 200916 yr Hello all, It appears from reading this forum that the i7 920 and 950 can both be overclocked to 4.0GHZ. If this is the case is there any point spending the extra dollars for the 950? Is it easier to reach 4 GHZ with the 950?Thanks,Stephen.
July 28, 200916 yr Higher multiplier on the 950 model makes it easier to reach that 4.0GHz CPU clock speed. Higher multi allows a lower BClk. The lower your BClk the easier it is for the various other components to deal with, like RAM and mobo.

July 31, 200916 yr I have the 940 and was able to get her at 4 with no problem at all. I have helped a few others with the same also get to 4 GHZ as well on the 940. I have seen the 920 at 4 also but it takes a little extra time and a good cooling system. In my opinion I would go for the 950 and enjoy it! Jim Wenham
