August 3, 200916 yr I installed Project LKPR version lkpr2004_070123 last night and it gave me a CTD. I was about 70 miles south east of the airport in my Carenado RGII, (flying out of LOWW), and everything was working fine. I wanted to find out which runways were active so I flipped over to COM2, (where I had the LKPR ATIS frequency set), and ATIS told me that runway 6 was active. So I pressed the PROC button on the stock Carenado Garmin GPS and then the down arrow key to select a runway 6 approach and had an FS9 CTD. So, when selecting approaches and you experience CTDs, are those are typically Afcad issues or could they be anything else?Mark

But it has advanced to v080605 since then , so I would recommend you install that version and see how things behave. However, this is still classed as a "work in progress" so to some extent you are being used as a guinea pig and must accept that problems may occur. If you can reproduce the situation, could you advise the relevant part of the software crash information per http://www.adventure-unlimited.org/faultfi...php#Identifying which may help pin it down to something specific.JohnPS - additional note, the readme for the latest version includes the following comment: 2.2.6 3D apron lightning (FSX only)Description:Experimental version of apron lightening. If you want to try a working lights, that throw light not only on the ground, but even on aircrafts taxiing/standing below it, use this extension.Instalation:Copy content of LIGHTS_FSX directory into your LKPR X instalation directory.Unsinstalation:Remove file lights.bgl from your SCENERY directory of your LKPR X.WARNING: Do not try to use this file in FS2004. It is causing crash to desktop when flying inbound Praha. My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
August 4, 200916 yr Author You know, I must have missed that latest update...thought that I did have the latest one. Thanks so much John...duh on my part.By the way, I don't know if anyone's ever said this to you before, (probably a million people), but that web page of yours is invaluable. It's a comfort when things aren't going as well as expected and gives you a glimmer of hope that you'll be able to soar [1] again one day :)Mark[1] JLS
August 5, 200916 yr Author OK, here's a follow up for LKPR. The version that I was running has it's share of issues, (John was right), and you should probably shy away from it. I also tried their latest version, (which is also billed as both an FS9 and FSX release), and it does work however, the Afcad needs to be revamped and my GPS doesn't display a navigation line after selecting an approach. So I decided to go back to their inital FS9 release, (060413), which appears to work the best of the three and once again, is not bad at all for freeware. Most of the time I don't mind finding errors in freeware because I like to support and encourage artists to keep creating both large, (and my personal favorites), small out of the way airports. So it does work, albeit, needs a bit of work :)Oh, and if anyone is looking for some smaller out of the way airports, there's a region in France that's great. Near Le Havre there are 3 airports within a 15 mile radius of each other. They are, LFOY, LFOH, and LFRG and are really fun with an ultra-light, slow bi-plane, or a small Cessna. You can practice your touch and go's on the grass at LFOY. I picked the airports up from some French freeware sites and they remind me of the early work from Shez, Bill Melichar, and Seev. There's a list below in case you want to try them. I fudged together a small ULM AI package that has flights going to and from the airports so you'd probably want to do the same...it's really fun anyway. Thanks for the help John :)MarkLFRG - Deauville Saint Gatienhttp://pagesperso-orange.fr/p.dumat/htm/lfrg.htmBoth by Christian Dupriez (and many of his other sceneries as well)LFOY - Le Havre St RomainLFOH - Le Havre Octevillehttp://pagesperso-orange.fr/christian.dupriez/
August 5, 200916 yr And just a small follow-up from my end. Like Mark, I don't mind fixing a few problems in freebies, and as my existing LKPR add-on was pretty old and basic I thought (despite my aversion to "beta" and "pre-release" versions) I would give this a whirl. Instructions for installation are quite complicated as apart from there being variations for FS9 and FSX there are quite a few other options, but they are quite clear despite the broken English as long as you are careful and systematic. I installed all for FS9 except the automatic docking system as I tend to only fly classic aircraft. Although I installed the static DC-3 (although not using the aircraft they recommend to download owing to that site being off-line) I don't really see much point as it wouldn't be visible from the active part of the airport.I then made a short flight from Warsaw and experienced no crash as I approached the area. All seems to work perfectly. As I "live in the past" aircraft-wise I don't use GPS so did not experience what Mark mentions in the previous post. I cannot see any significant errors on the AFD file but if there is a problem there it should be fixable. The only things I changed in the AFD was to reduce some parking spot sizes because some were so large that if occupied by something big they would block taxiways. So I think the latest version should be fine for most, and would recommend it. Its a huge improvement on what I have been using before.Best wishes,John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
