August 4, 200916 yr I have just been putting my FS 2004 plus all my many add ons back onto my new computer. 'My word', i didnt realise just how much i have acqiured over the years. Most things have transferred seamlessly but my Air Sheffel Boeing 737-800 ( what a marvelous free-ware plane it is) sits patiently on the runway while i try to start the engines. Because i don't have mutli-screens, i have to start the engines using CTRL + E (i always kept a saved flight on my old computer with the engines running) but i just cannot get the engines to fire up. Engine Number one spools up & then shuts down whereas i cannot even get engine two to respond. Anyone else got this great plane & any ideas how to fire them both up?CheersRod

Use S key to change views.Second, almost every aircraft has a 2D panel, especially those freeware ones - and to open various sub-panels, use shift+1,2,3,4,5... which will give you various panels, which you have to set correctly to get the engines started (for 737, most is on the overhead, fuel, bleed, APU, and engines valve is on the throttle of course).I suggest you read into some basic checklist procedures to find out how to start engines for different aircraft. If what you said is happening, my best guess is you didn't open the engine valve below the throttle (those usual airliners, Boeing, Airbus etc, have it there). If you cannot get engine two to respond, your air bleed is probably set wrong (again, use checklists). And what might be more helpful: you said "Air Sheffel" - this is only a livery, I never heard of addon by Air Sheffel. The aircraft itself and its systems is produced by someone else. Find that out and we might be able to help you further.

Secondly the multi screen option was suggested by Arjon Scheffel ( the author of this file) as it is difficult to start the engines with one screen because the plane has several panels which need to be accessed seperately in order to start the engines realistically.Thirdly this particular aircraft does not have a v.c. As far as i can make out from the'read me' file, this plane is the product of Arjon Scheffel and is not just a livery.I think in future i will e-mail the author of the file. I might get a more helpful reply.Hello,First read the doc: (extract)And secondly ... start with a default plane .. engine (s) stop .. this will help to have no probs with this plane.Regards.Gus.Thanks gus. Thats the reply i was hoping to get.CheersRod
August 4, 200916 yr Ok, my bad, it really sounded like it were a livery and a simple problem. I am sorry.

Here is a pic showing the accessibility via panel layering. Alex Reid Panel layering in RFP 742- just click on any panel to bring it to the top. (AMD XP2200 1.8, 2 GeForce FX5200 GPUs)
August 5, 200916 yr Ok, my bad, it really sounded like it were a livery and a simple problem. I am sorry. No problem my friend. No offence taken.CheersRodRod- I don't have the Scheffel 737-800, but I can empathize with you, since another plane with multi panels- Ready For Pushback 742, is certainly much easier to handle with multiple monitors. I think i need pilot training for that beast. I probably can start the 737-800 manually but sometimes you just want to jump straight in & fly if you know what i mean.CheersRod
August 5, 200916 yr What helps on some planes (I don't have that one, though) is to press and *hold down* the Ctrl-E keys until all engines are started. Sometimes the starter torque isn't high enough to get them to catch in the normal time Ctrl-E gives you, and this will give them more time.Hope this helps, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
