Ultimate Traffic and Frame Rates

Featured Replies

Hey All,I am interested in getting UT but concerned about frame rate impact. For those that have UT now, how much if any fps hit did you take??? I currently have My Traffic and my frames are very good. How do you like UT overall??Thanks in advance for any input you may offer. :-)My set-up: P4 2.0 Ghz 512 Ram 80Gig HD 128mb GeForce 4Larry :-wavehttp://eagleexpressva.com/forum/templates/.../logo_phpBB.gifwww.eagleexpressva.com

Larry,I have less the system than you and am not experiencing troubles. My frame rate is capped at 15, which you may find perfectly satisfactory inasmuch as big-screens film runs at 24FPS; TV at 29.97, and the old Super-8 film at 18 without serious strobing or flicker. By throttling your frame rates in FS2002, you free memory for caching scenery and other things which enhance the experience. Please also understand that the "hit" traffic can invoke on frame rates has more to do with the polygon count of the AI aircraft than anything else. The Flight1 AI aircraft take this into account, as do the Aardvark designs and perhaps others. If you want "real," in looks, handling, weather, and now Traffic--Ultimate Traffic is in my crystal ball for your future. ;-)It's grand.

Larry - The framerate is, for me, a bit better with UT. You'll still see a big hit at the major airports just as with MyTraffic but the overall framerate even at these "busy guys" (KORD, EGLL, KLAX, et. al.) is better here. I think if you're OK with MT you'll be even a happier simmer with UT. Plus, there's more of everything and it all looks better.DougNorthwood 2.2a at 2.508Ghz Abit TH7II-R512MB Samsung 40ns PC80064MB 3.6ns Gainward GF4 Ti420040.72's with WinXP Pro/DX9a

I'm actually getting better frame rates I think with UT than with default traffic! I'm quite pleasedLobaeux

Why not just download the PAI installers or self install AI, its rather easy with only 1 or 2 sessions of working with it. Also I've seen pics in the screen shot forum of cargo planes, UPS and FedEx parked at the gates with the airlines.....now come on, after a year of R&D, they still didn't seperate the cargo and pax. On a side note: AARDVARK AI planes are less framerate intensive, I've converted over to them as planes become availible.
