August 6, 200916 yr HiI have questions regarding FSX MD11' FMS1.Occasionally, on the NAV page and after I select the landing runway the FMS does not automatically pick up the ILS frequency and course of the landing runway. I would be 20nm from the airport and info is not in yet. When I try to enter it manually I get error "Format Error" what is the correct method to enter ILS frequency and course mannually.2. On the fix page when I enter the fix I only get a small green circle around the fix point. Can I get a circle of say 22nm around that fix point as in the boeing aircarfts. for example in LDS767 I would enter LGA for a fix on line 1 and /22 on line 2 to help entering the ARC around the airport. can you that in the MD11?Your help is appreciatedBill Hagag C:|mydocuments\mypictures\my signature.htm
August 6, 200916 yr 1 Some ils frequencies have changed since fsx came out (expect you know) so not ALL ils's are correct as far as fsx is concerned. The up to date ones are in the navdata but you can insert the 'fsx correct' ones in the NAV RAD page of the fms. The format is XXX.xx/XXX so you would say enter 110.75/038 (remember the 0)As for 2 the MD can't dosplay range rings from the airport but the nav display has them at whatever you set the range to - so 40Nm would have a 20Nm ring from the aircraft. It is possible to set a before/after fix waypoint, it's in the advanced part of the manual.Hope it helpsJohn Ellison

I was entering the frequencey with three decimal points. i.e. 110.300. The course was fine. Always entered three digits.and thanks for clarifying point 2.Bill Hagag C:|mydocuments\mypictures\my signature.htm
