Corrupt log books

THanks Paul. Seems to be a different kind of freezing. Never had it happen on the splash screen.

Paul,Just curious, have you found an aftermarket (freeware or payware) module that will do a much more user-friendly logbook? Probably have to have a SimVar link or something.Cheers, Greystone

I've not looked for a replacement. I still use the FSX logbook but I NEVER edit it from within FSX.I use Lamon Clark's logbook editor utility to add comments and make adjustments to thelogbook.bin file.Within FSX I only VIEW the logbook to see the tally's for the various columns. Paul

The logbook can spontaneously corrupt itself, but that's rare. The file can get damaged from hard drive issues as well. I would suggest things like a sloppy defrag, the logbook sitting on a bad HD sector, or a hard crash like the power going out just as the logbook is being amended, although I am not an expert in this. There are third-party logbooks that the Virtual Airlines use. I know I have seen them, but I can't for the life of me remember precisely where to find any. Look at the VA websites and see what they reccomend. Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

This might sound like an odd, but related request:Is there any way to stop FSX from logging your flights?I'm not training for a PPL, I'm not trying to get type rated for a real life aircraft; I just like to fly in FSX... So, the logbook is of no interest to me. I've logged hundreds of virtual hours over the years like most have, but this is my point. I don't care about keeping some virtual record about how many virtual hours, virtual landings, etc. that means nothing to anybody else in the real world. Including me.

Cryo,Not sure why it's important to you, or not, to have no log time, or not. I am just looking for a way to log IFR/VFR/Day/Night flight time that is more user friendly than the ridiculous BIN file the ACES created for FSX. I need it for requirements in a virtual organization I fly with. No biggee.

I just wish it wasn't mandatory like in FS9.FS9 gives you the option of logging flight time, or not.
