August 12, 200916 yr Hi all,i am going to be getting a new PC which I wil lbe running FS9. I have been running my existing FS9 for ages with a ton of add-ons so I a mnot sure if I should re-install everything from scratch or just install FS9 and then dump a copy from my old system over the top?I have recently cleared out a load of old planes which didnt have VCs but I am wondering if I have a load of old gauges ni the gauges folder, will it slow down the game on my new system? Or do they just sit there and only get loaded when a plane uses them?I dont want to buy a new system but have the game slowed down by a load of old files but to re-install eveythng again could literally take months? Thanks
August 12, 200916 yr Hello,A fresh install of FS2004 is in order for no probs.Indeed you can drop in your old files .. provided the path of your newest install is the same as the old (again for avoid some probs)Be sure to drop all the necessary files in the good folders (FS2004 install many things in differents locations)You can even reuse your FS9.CFG .. provided you don't overwrite the graphic display setting of the new FS9.CFG (the new graphic card entry)With many files (as gauges .. aircrafts .. etc) the only slow down is when you launch FS2004 and when you load a new aircraft or scenery.FS2004 when running use just the files needed. The possibles problems will come from paywares addon's as many make some changes (put their licnces prints .. etc..) in the registry base during their installationsSure some suggestions from others will give you additional help.Regards.Gus.
