August 12, 200916 yr Hi,ASA is not depicting surface winds correctly! For example, If i tune into ATIS, it will report winds at 240@54 KBOS which coincidently are my winds at 30,000 ft! For some reason ATIS will continue to report my aloft winds (winds at my current altittude) instead of actually giving me the correct winds at the airport I plan to land at. Even on decent ATIS will match my winds at my current altittude. As you can imagine this makes it impossible to plan which runway to land on as the winds are constantly shifting as I decend and prepare for final. To sum it up, For some reason ASA is not reporting the actual surface winds at the destination airport(s).I should note that I currently have build 433, and I am running on Vista 64 bit. Also the above problem happened before build 433.Chris, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit | Asus Rampage III Formula motherboard | Intel quad Core I7 950 @4.0ghz | EVGA 570gtx graphics card | 6gb Corsair xms3 ram @1600mhz 7-8-7-20 | 850 watt corsair power supply | CoolerMaster V8 CPU cooler | 320gb WD Caviar Hard Drive (OS) | 1tb WD Caviar Black Hard Drive (FSX)
August 12, 200916 yr If you are using FSX, turn off the DWC (direct wind control). This should make it all better. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.

August 14, 200916 yr That did the trick!Thank You! :( This issue is becoming the topic of lots of discussions. Requesting ATIS at altitude is a very real world practice. This problem did not occur with ASv6 or ASX. I can understand that turning DWC off could fix this issue. However, turning DWC off defeats so many of the advances that ASA provides. What can be done to fix this issue.ThanksBob
August 15, 200916 yr Hi Bob,With ASA we are limited by the code, so we are all locked in to 2 options: use DWC and know this is going to happen or turn off DWC and use some settings in FSUIPC to control wind shifts. I wish I could offer more options. Thanks,
August 15, 200916 yr Lighten up guy, jeez. While it appears you may be overheated and apparently frustrated, shouting is hardly necessary. Gentlemanly discourse should be the rule of the day here. Let's not devolve to the level of the health care debate in the United States. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
