August 12, 200916 yr Hi,I own REX 1.0 and LOVE it. I'm looking forward to REX 2.0 but am a bit hesitant b/c of some of the posts describing issues with Simconnect and overwriting a file (xml.exe ??).My question is...have those issues been largely resolved. I use a fair number of add-ons and am beginning to learn FSUIPC so that I can connect my handheld moving map netbook (Voyager - by Seattle Avionics) to FSX. I don't want to upgrade to REX 2.0 if there is still some concern about its impact on simconnect (or FSUIPC and/or my addons).Again, I love REX and GREATLY appreciate the team issuing such a major upgrade for no additional charge. REX 1.0 is one of my best purchases in FSX and I'm sure REX 2.0 is even better (I mostly want to upgrade for the improved weather engine...)What do you think? Is it safe to get in the water now?

Is it safe to get in the water now? It's always been safe to "get in the water". The problem with the exe.xml file mainly affected users using Ultimate Traffic 2. It was addressed quickly and a patch issued quickly as well. Get Patch here. The installation of REX 2.0 caused no ill effects on my system and I have ALOT of addons...I use MyTraffic X however. Just make a backup of your exe.xml prior to installing REX 2.0 ifyou are worried you are going to have an issue. Your missing out on a greatly enhanced product. I highly recommend you install REX 2.0 and start enjoying it. ;)Regards,Bob
August 13, 200916 yr Thanks for the reply Bob. Where do I find exe.xml? - Is this file related to the challenges with Simconnect as well? - Do I need to download the patch if I get the current download off of Flightsim Store?
August 13, 200916 yr Thanks for the reply Bob. Where do I find exe.xml? - Is this file related to the challenges with Simconnect as well? - Do I need to download the patch if I get the current download off of Flightsim Store?Unless you have an addon that uses and thus makes the exe.xml file you will not have an exe.xml file to backup. This file contains information that tells FSX which EXE files to load on start-up. The location of this file is different for everyone. The location of the file may be one of the following:C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR XP USERS NAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\FSXOrC:\Users\<YOUR VISTA USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSXC:\Users\<YOUR VISTA USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSXThese locations are hidden by default so make sure you search hidden files and folders.I have no issues with simconnect and the current REX 2.0 update includes the patch.
August 13, 200916 yr Thanks. Found my exe.xml file and copied it. Not sure why I have one but I do (maybe for simplates?). Thanks to everyone for giving me the greenlight to download REX 2.0. I've been waiting over a week to do it and look forward to checking it out!
