Virtual e problem

Featured Replies

I have been using Y--G from day one and have had wonderfull results ,i never realized just how beautifull some of the us states are.But i can hardly ever get the same results using 'virtual e 'i fly for ten minutesor so and then hit the 'grey band with the emblem'then the scenery becomes blury,I have tried restarting TP but it doesnt help ,Portugal and the uk dont seem to throw up these grey bandsand are very good, has anyone found other countries that are grey bandless. A list of countries flyable in V E would be very helpfullHas anyone found a way to avoid the problem? Thanks again Christian you have brought many many happy hours to my flying time.hope someone can helpmy thanks DON

I've certainly flown with VE (service 1) quite happily in most of the UK (except Scotland & Northern Ireland), France, Austria and Holland at 1 metre textures. However, I was flying in Italy the other day and found that the 1m textures were poor resolution. However when I switched to 30cm, the results were quite pleasing (but I ran out of memory quite quickly). It seems well known that the VE images are not so good for USA and that most people use service 3 on that side of the pond.IAN

You can try the level_mapping feature to force Tileproxy to access 60cm or 30cm textures on the server to generate 1m textures for FSX.Christian

Thanks Christian. Do you mean that FSX will create 1m textures from 30 cm Tileproxy generated textures? These are the settings I currently use with FSX set to 1m:max_lod=15preload_min_lod=9preload_max_lod=15level_mapping=9,10,11,13,14,14,15,16,17,18,19So presumably I simply use the following with 1m textures in FSX:max_lod=17preload_min_lod=9preload_max_lod=17level_mapping=9,10,11,13,14,14,15,16,17,18,19And FSX will then create 1m textures from the 30 cm textures.IAN
