August 24, 200916 yr hi all,i was wondering if the nvidia 8600gt on my system is the bottleneck preventing me from acheiving higher framerates?my system specs are:Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 @ 3.0GHZNvidia 8600gt 256mb with 190.62 driver4gb DDR2-1066 RamWestern Digital 500GB Caviar BlackWindows 7 64-bitFSX Accelerationi follwed NickN's guide and tuned my system. my harddisk is defragged too. in the Virtual Cockpit of the PMDG 747 and flying around KLAX, i can only acheive around 13.5 FPS. The weird thing is that I can get the same fps in both fine and stormy weather. Setting the traffic from 0 to 75% does not seem to have an effect on the fps too. autogen level has no effect too. Is this because my cpu is more than able to run fsx and that the gpu is the limiting factor?i checked out a gpu benchmark at http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-...-X-SP2,784.html and found out that fps does indeed vary greatly between different graphic cards on the same cpu. if i upgrade my gpu to Nvidia GTS 250 512mb, will i get a significant increase in my fps? I'm hoping to acheive at least 25fps. thank you. August 27, 200916 yr Yes, your 8600 GT is holding you back. A GTS 250 would be a much more capable graphics card. As for the ability to always achieve 25 fps, it will depend upon the settings you're running, the plane you're flying, where you're flying it, traffic density, and weather at the time. If you tune right you can achieve this goal, but don't expect it with all details at their highest settings.

August 27, 200916 yr EVGA is a good brand. I have an EVGA 8800 GT in my everyday gaming rig. BFG and XFX are also good brands. I have an XFX GTX 285 in my main rig and it rocks every game on the market.
