I've had FSX for awhile on my old P4 machine, now I want to do a proper install for it.I searched for a good guide here and couldn't find one. Does anyone have a good write up about it and how to optimize the performance? Here are my specs:Processor Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550(2.83GHz) Memory 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800 Hard Drive 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD Optical Drive 1 22X DVD

Hi Chris,That rig will rock your world! I have very close to the exact same specs you do, and have super performance after I set it all up just as Nick suggested, using both FPS limiter and Nhancer. The only slider that is not far to the right is the autogen which is pegged a single slot back, and payware AI traffic at 50%. You might want to stick to the Nvidia 182.50 driver for now, since the latest release is not compatible with the latest version of Nhancer at this point. You should get great performance with high and smooth FPS. Since FSX is so CPU driven, I suggest you consider a light overclock but only after installing a premium after market cooler. Maxed out at 100% on all 4 cores at 3.65 mhz, my core temps are around 65C (38-42C + or - @ idle) with the OCZ Vendetta 2, well below any danger or instability levels. I defrag often with Ultimate Defrag 2008 giving prioity to my FTX files in the Folder/File option. I know the i7 machines are faster - yadda yadda yadda, but I betcha anyone using what you have would not be able to tell the difference if the Shift Z was off. It's a rocketship! You are going to have a blast!Stephen
Thanks so much for all the advice! The one bad thing is that I could not find FSX Acceleration in any of the stores so I had to opt for the download of SP2 instead. Where is a good place to get the 182.50 drivers?
