Display driver problem

I just started using FSX under Vista home premium-64 but not for more than 5 minutes a couple of times. When I first start the game it tells me color sheme has been set to Vista basic mode. Finally when I exit it says something like display driver has failed and has recovered. Do you think if I run the game in XP2 mode this might correct the problem or is ther another solution
