AFCAD or ActiveSky problem?

Featured Replies

I have been playing around with my local airports AFCAD since installing UT to get the GA parking and Commercial gates properly located. I've since started having issues with runway assignments. Occasionally on departure, I'll be cleared for takeoff on runway 7, while AI aircraft are taking off on 25! I've also had problems last night where I was cleared as number one for landing on runway 25, and not 30" later, a Colgan Air B1900 was cleared for number on to land on runway 7. I was told to go around because he beat me to the ground. I do fly with offline downloaded weather using ActiveSky 1.8 so is this a conflict with ATIS weather reporting and FSUIPC? Alternately, am I seeing a problem with my AFCAD files for this airport? Or is this just something that happens with FS AI - although, I've never had that problem before...Thanks!sg

This is FS2002's problem with wind shifts. When the sim starts, all the wind information is the same as your starting point. AI aircraft get assigned runways (both takeoff and landing) based on that. Then, if the wind shifts (either from a user input or an external weather program) any runway clearances generated later will have the new headings, but the old clearances will still be there for AI aircraft still flying in or taxiing out.The same holds when you're flying and the wind changes again. Any existing clearances will still be there (based on the OLD weather you WERE seeing earlier) but your clearance will be based on your NEW weather.A third problem might happen at airports with only one instrumented runway. IFR flights will still be sent to the instrumented runway, even though VFR flights and takeoffs are using the opposite end.

Thanks for the reply. No way to avoid that, huh?
