Work around for the Ramp Manager

Featured Replies

Since I can't get the ramp manager to work (see previous thread), is there a work-around. Can I just take off without disconnecting the external power, or will it drag along behind the plane and eventually break something?Alternatively, any additional thoughts on why the ramp manager won't come up (and by come up, I mean visible), would be great.

Doug,We're pretty stumped on this right now. None of us on the dev or test teams see the issue... We're researching it and as soon as we know something we'll provide a fix. Do you have any other addons running that create their own windows within panels? I'm thinking stuff like weather radars, moving maps, etc...In the meantime, if you just load the plane up from the free flight menu, it should start already running and ready to go. I know this doesn't allow you to go through the startup procedure, but it will at least let you fly the plane.

Hello Sir

I'm having the ramp manager issue as well. After you start up, go ahead and taxi - the GPU and chocks will remove after you move forward a foot or two.

Ryan, Thanks for the feedback. Glad to know you thinking about it. Someone else said that it might be a direct X issue and that I disable Direct X10 preview and try. Thoughts on that, or whether Direct X can be the culprit? And, why would I not have that kind of issue in the MD-11 which requires SP2 as well? And, is the inability to push buttons on the pop up FMS related, or a separate problem? But, to answer your question: Nope, I don't have anything else running related to MSFS.I intend to try and do the DX10 disable tonight and see if its any better.

Definitely let us know if running in DX9 fixes anything for you...
Gentlemen,Problem solved. Its not really a DX10 issue, it was a SP2 issue. For whatever reason, I don't think I had SP2 properly installed. I'm not entirely sure how that happened. Maybe it got corrupted. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled and it works like a charm. So my advice to anyone with this problem is to revisit SP2. This repair also fixed my FMS pop up problem. Intersting is that I never suspected SP2 because I have the MD-11 and it decrees SP2 to be mandatory as well and never had any problems. Go figure. Works in DX 10 too, although I turned it off. I'm a button pusher, not a scenery guy. Thanks for the help everyone. And I hope my idiocy helps the other guys out there can use this fix.
