Question about JS41 flight model

Featured Replies

Last night I was on autopilot climbing to ALT SEL with IAS set to 170, engines set to 98% RPM, when I realised that I forgot to increase power so that the EGT needle moves from the lower white hash mark to the upper one.At that time my climb rate was 1000FPM. The power increase did not also increase the autopilot climb rate. Isn't that curious?Neither the climb rate nor the IAS changed in the process.

Weather issue maybe?I just did a quick test and going from the lower hash to the upper hash I picked up over 300 FPM (1700-2000+) at 170 kts. That was down around 6K feet.

Chris,I wouldn't expect the airspeed to change if you were in IAS mode on the AP. Increasing power when in IAS mode has always increased rate of climb, unless the weather was doing something unusual. I'm with Mike on this one -- there was something else affecting the plane at the moment you increased power.
