September 11, 200916 yr Just one question about Decision Altitude and Decision Height in precision approach: which one to choose?I am flying the 747.BestEtienne P.
September 11, 200916 yr They're the same thing with different altimeter settings. When using QNH, you'll use Decision Altitude; Decision Height is used when doing a precision approach using QFE.All the bestDavid Robertson
September 11, 200916 yr Just one question about Decision Altitude and Decision Height in precision approach: which one to choose?I am flying the 747.BestEtienne P.Etienne,Which one to use depends on the Category Type of ILS you are planning to fly. When planning a CAT I ILS, the Decision Altitude is based on the Barometric pressure, so DA is used. When planning a CAT II or CAT III ILS, the Decision Height is based on the Radio Altimeter, so DH is used.Hope it helps.Harry
September 11, 200916 yr Author David, Harry,Thanks for the replies. I will thus revise this ILS CAT stuff.
