Screen locks up in a random solid color

Featured Replies

Hello, recently I have been having a very strange problem during certain scenarios. I will go to an outside view that involves watching the aircraft from a fixed spot (i.e. flyby or tower view). This can be during replay or live in session. After a few seconds the screen will suddenly wash out in a solid shade of blue, red, or any color in between. The computer is locked up, I cannot alt ctrl delete out; the only way out is to hit the computer's reset button to reboot out of the crash. This is a very odd type of crash I have never seen before and was wondering if anyone has ever had this happen. I use FSX sp2 and fly the Majestic Software dash 8-300 and PMDG JS4100. The crash only happens if I go to a flyby view or view the aircraft from a stationary point on the ground. It's like a blue screen of death, except there are no error messages, just a solid color and the system locks up until I hit the reboot button. THe color of the screen varies and is a random solid color. Please advise if anyone has run into this phenomenon. Thanks

I would suggest installing latest drivers for sound and video. Update directx. Update windows. It kind of sounds like an overheating or driver issue.
