FMC Initialization?

Featured Replies

I'm getting a little frustrated... my FMC goes to initialization mode and that's where my JS4100 experience ends. I've had this plane for about 3 days and haven't made a flight yet. I have no problem programming the FMC's on the 747,737,MD-11 or the LVLD767 so I'm not a total noob. The FMC in the JS41 will sit in initialization mode for a week if I let it, first off, it shows that I'm at HL0N, when actually I'm at HL69. I know this is an MSFS issue, but, when I enter HL69 and click the LSK, it reverts back to HL0N and shows nothing for position, so, I can't get any further than this. I have to take of from this airport as it's part of the VA flight plan, which by the way I can't load up either :(Why won't the FMC show the position??fmcinit.jpg

Just to get started on a solution for you, have you tried starting at a different airport? Neither of those airports appear to be in the Navdata.

I tried CYXX (Abbotsford BC Canada) with no position indicated also. I have the Airac 0908 in my PMDG folder.Even if it's not in the NavData, shouldn't the system know the position/location of the aircraft through it's GPS capabilities?

Okay, I see the problem. On initialization of the FMS (it's not an FMC), you need to pess the ENTER key three times.I don't know why those small airfields in Libya don't seem to initialize with the correct airfield ICAO identifier -- but at Abbotsford, and everywhere else I've checked, it works.

Thanx for your help Kurt, I think the problem has been that I don't actually have a flight plan loaded in FSX. I loaded a plan from CYXX and then turned on the "FMS", then the assorted info appeared. I tried that from HL69 and it also worked. Moral of the story, you must have a flight plan in FSX first :)I appreciate your help, thank you! :)

I'm pretty sure that the FMS doesn't read the FSX flight plan, but I could be wrong. Glad you got it sorted.
