Upload Extracts OK But Won't ZipDive

Recommended Posts

I'm having a strange problem uploading my ".zip" to AVSIM. The upload process is normal but, when the library administrators examine the file with ZipDiver, no files are shown. (The zip contains several folders and about 10 .jpg, .txt and .pdf files.) However, they have confirmed that the file extracts normally and have posted it as a special case. Over 1000 users have downloaded the file without reporting any problems. I'm using Windows XP Pro. I've tried zipping the file with both WinZip and the Windows XP compression facility. Results are the same in both cases. There are no user controls (that I've been able to find) over the zip process beyond specifying which files/folders to include. I'm suspicious about something in XP Pro but don't know what to look for.Anyone have an idea what's wrong?Don

Don,What are you naming the file? Odd characters such as ( [} !@#$^ and such will actually break the system and convince zip dive it's not a valid file.

Thanks, Chase. The file name does include parenthesis. I'll remove them and re-submit.Don

Chase, as you probably know by now, your suggestion worked and the file has been published. Maybe the advice you gave me should be included in the upload instructions so as to save others from the grief I've had over the past week. Thanks again, Don

I'm glad to hear it worked. I will pass a note to the right people.
