September 24, 200916 yr Does anybody know of a way within FSX to restrict what views TrackIR will be active in?I've had a TrackIR 3 Pro with the vectors for about 3 years I think. I used it for a short time on my old XP system with FS04. I got mixed results and after a while I quit using it.For the past couple of weeks I've been trying to get it going with my current Vista 32 system and FSX. Since Staggerwing taught me how to edit the profiles I've come to really like using it with the 3D cockpits. But I am not fond of using it with the 2D panel or in the spot view. I have a key assigned to pause / release the TrackIR but when I do that the TrackIR sortware seems to get confused. I have even had to abort a couple of flights because of it.I felt that it seemed far more intuitative the old way where TrackIR was only active in the 3D cockpit.I asked about this on Natural Point's FS forum and was told that the only way is to pause TrackIR. I then asked if it was something they could address in a future release of their software. I was told that it was something that was "set / determined" within FSX. This seems kind of strange when on the part of their site where they talk about their compatability with FSX they make it sound as if using it in other views beyond the 3D cockpit was an enhancement of version 4 of the TrackIR software. But the guy says that it happens within FSX so I assume he knows what he is talking about. So if anybody can help me find a spot in FSX where I can make settings for TrackIR I would sure appreciate it.Thanks much,Tom Wunder

The TrackIR works thru SimConnect (in regards to FSX) but we have no control of what features are supported in which view, and which is not. That is all driven thru SimConnect which is no longer in development.

September 29, 200916 yr If it helps, I mapped a button on my yoke to the TrackIR5 pause feature. Then for example, when I switch to the outside view, I can quicly pause and unpause my TrackIR5 view and use my Yoke hat switch to pan around in all the normal directions I was accustomed to. You just can't beat the TrackIR5 in the VC though; thoroughly immersive indeed :)Now if Vin would just fix the conflict between my TrackIR5 software and my mouse, I will be golden. :( :( Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
October 28, 200916 yr Thought I'd try and get all three topics about this subject together on the list for a bit..Two other topics now list a utility download that seems to work for this purpose,JAB_FSX.zipIn the Avsim library, but also at Flightsim.com
